Yes, we do! We will be offering locally grown trees from Hanauer Farms.

They can be planted in any season other than winter when the ground is frozen. Generally, planting in spring or fall is recommended as there is less heat stress on the plants. But with plants such as ours that have been cared for in the nursery by our team, with normal care and watering, after you plant them they will be fine.

The Shawano Area is in Zone #4. The plants that we stock come from Zone #4 growers. This means it is in the plant’s DNA makes it hardy and disease resistant for Zone #4. The larger ‘Big Box’ type stores, will typically bring in plants from Southern states outside of Zone 4, because they are able to purchase and sell them at a lower price, due to the South’s longer growing season. A plant from a warmer zone, such as Zone 6 or Zone 7, will struggle with the colder climate and shorter growing season, so it may not perform the way you would expect a plant grown in this climate.

A few common plants that Hummingbirds love are Bee Balm, Phlox, Lupine, Hollyhock, Coral Bells, Foxglove, Salvia, Columbine, Honeysuckle, Fuchsia, Tigerlillies, Azalea, Rhododendrun, Bleeding Heart, Daylilies, Hibiscus, and Weigela.

The average project at Shawano Lawn and Stone is in the $3,000-$5,000 range. Our projects are typically done in the 1 ½ to 3 days. Obviously we work on projects that only take a few hours and a few hundred dollars and we have projects that can take several weeks, and cost tens of thousands of dollars, but in general it is not a costly proposition, and it is a wise investment for the beauty of your home or business and it’s value.

Yes. We regularly work on landscape projects that have been accomplished in phases, for a variety of reasons, sometimes money, sometimes by choice or a design reason, we can accomplish an overall landscape plan over the course of a few years. This allows the property owner to visualize things as they happen and be able to make changes.

Absolutely! Landscaping is similar to artistry, and the nature of the project can evolve and take shape as we work through it. It is not unusual for the original design idea to become larger or smaller than originally planned. Oftentimes design changes are made on the spot. We encourage your involvement and questions, as this is your property and we want you to be satisfied with the outcome of the work.

We hope you hire us to help you for big and small projects. Oftentimes the projects we undertake are handyman projects, such as pruning, cleanup or pressure washing. We feel that we have the skills and variety of equipment to handle any kind of project on the outside of your home or business. And if you aren’t sure, feel free to ask us to come out and look at what you need done. If we are not qualified, we will tell you.

We will generally be able to give you a price range either over the phone or when we meet with you at your project location. That way if we are in the range of your budget you can give us the ‘green light’ to schedule your project rather than wait for us to find time to write up an estimate. During the spring and early summer, when we are extremely busy, it can be challenging to look at your project, so please plan ahead and have us look at your project in the very early spring if not the fall before.

No, we do a wide variety of maintenance work as well. Institutionally, commercially and residentially. If you don’t have the time or staff to properly maintain your property, have us take a look at it. We can assist you with one time or regular maintenance. We do not do lawn care such as mowing, but we do take care of pruning and trimming and clean up.

Yes, snow plowing is very much an aspect of our winter services. We have multiple plow trucks for commercial and residential parking lots and driveways. We also have skid loaders to move accumulated snow. Call us for all your snow removal needs.

Rectangles and squares: Area = Length x Width ex. The length = 25 ft. and the width = 8 ft. Area is:25 x 8 = 200 sq ft.

Triangle: Area = Base xHeight / (divide by) 2 ex. The base = 30 ft. and the height = 20 ft. Area is (30 x 20) / 2 =300 sq ft.

Circle: Area = 3.14 x Radius2  ex. The radius(half the diameter of a circle) is 9 ft.  Area is 3.14 x (9 x 9) = 254 sq. ft.

Perimeter length of circle = 3.14 x Radius Squared (Used when calculating edging)
