Our history says it all. Shawano Lawn and Stone has been in business since 1979, supplying our customers with landscape supplies: from a huge variety of plants, shrubs and trees, to our mulch and stone, and hardscape supplies and accessories to boot from our gift shop. You won’t have to go anywhere else. Shawano Lawn and Stone thrives on helping our customers as well. We are known as your one stop shop and resource center for lawn and garden.
It was the spring of 1979, when Steve and Mary Dobberstein opened Shawano Lawn and Stone. Through the years Steve and Mary were able to build their business from the ground up. By 1991 Steve had assembled a strong team of employees, and Mary was able to return to her true love of teaching.
In 1993 land was purchased along Waukechon St. and that winter the store building was built. In the next 20 years, many changes and additions occurred within the property allowing Shawano Lawn and Stone to better service and supply the community’s landscaping needs. As time rolled on Steve found himself realizing that his retirement was an eventuality and he began to consider the future transition of Shawano Lawn and Stone to a new generation.
In April of 2012, Pat Bohm joined with Steve and Mary in a cooperative venture with the plan for Steve to eventually sell and turn the business over to Pat. Pat had come from a local family home building business and possessed much experience in similar aspects of Landscape Construction and operating a business. And within that, an ingredient not to be overlooked, Pat was able to turn his own personal passion of landscaping into a career. The plan proved successful, in 2013 the business name changed from Shawano Lawn and Stone to Shawano Lawn and Stone Company LLC and Steve and Pat officially became co-owners of the company with Steve, getting a feel for retirement. In 2016 Steve stepped away from his ownership shares in the company, selling his portion to Pat. Steve continues to work very part time while he enjoys retirement full time.
Going forward, Pat intends to continue to grow the business and ensure the on going success of the business by continuing to provide quality products, services and customer service in all of its Landscaping, nursery, retail and snow plowing divisions. Pat looks forward to the successful future of Shawano Lawn and Stone Company
